IUI treatment

It is considered the simplest and a preferred clinical technique for those seeking help to have a baby in their lifetime. Though it is a less tiresome procedure, not all couples can conceive through this technique. Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) or Artificial Insemination is where a sperm is injected into the woman’s uterus to help her conceive. The process of IUI Treatment

  1. Ovulation Stimulation

After diagnosing the problem, a woman is given medications to stimulate egg production and development. More eggs are required to increase the chances of fertilization.

  1. Sperms acquired through masturbation

The man will give his sperms on that very day of insemination or they can be acquired from him in the previous days. They are stored in the laboratory in a refrigerator. Donor sperms can also be used in this procedure.

  1. Washing and separation of sperms

The semen is washed at the laboratory and separated to extract sperms. This process will take approximately 55 minutes to get the highly concentrated sperm

  1. Insemination

The cervical area is prepared with the help of a speculum. The insemination procedure can take place either at home or the doctor’s clinic.

  1. Using a catheter, the washed sperm with a high motility is injected into the woman’s uterus to conceive.

The woman will need 2 hours of rest and there is no pain involved in the whole procedure. The success rate of IUI treatment depends on the age of the woman, number eggs, and the cause of infertility.
