  • Make sure you are healthy and fit

You should exercise, eat healthy and take essential prenatal vitamins. Choose the prenatal vitamins which contain 400 micrograms folic acid at least. You should also add nuts, beans, citrus fruits, and leafy green vegetables in your diet. But, make sure that you do not drink excess coffee, alcohol, and smoke.

  • Fertility level of men also make a difference

Obesity affects sperm production, so it is important that both the partners work towards getting fit. The sperm count and motility are increased by taking Vitamin C & Vitamin E. These vitamins can be found in leafy vegetables, tomatoes, broccoli, and citrus fruits. Also, men should not smoke. This is because it increases the risk of lung cancer and asthma. Sperm formation is also affected by taking marijuana and anabolic steroids.

Some studies have shown that by wearing tight underwear the temperature around the scrotum is increased which decreases sperm quality. In the reproductive tract, the sperm live for 5 days but the egg stays for one day. This means the fertile window is 5 days before ovulation.

  • Have intercourse often

Studies have shown that if you do not have sex for a long time then the sperm quality can decrease. In the fertile window, it is best to have intercourse for 1 to 2 days.

The sperm reaches the fallopian tube within 5 minutes once it is ejaculated in the vagina. The use of lubricants should be avoided as they decrease the survival rate of sperm and also makes it move slow.
